The Importance of Individuality

ALLERGIC TO….boring people

A vast majority of this generation is so consumed with following what everyone else is doing. We all dress the same, listen to the same music, and hop on every new trend which is consider “cool” at the time. We are always moving like the wind, purchasing the next new iPhone model, car or new clothing trend that are in style.

In society one is expected to conform to the masses where trying to be yourself may be a challenging task but individuality is so important because it helps us maintain our unique identity. Naturally we’ve all been created differently, everything from our DNA and unique finger prints.

Individuality encourages creativity and the ability to think beyond boundaries. It helps us conquer fears, build self-esteem and confidence. People who have a true sense of identity are able to take risks and face challenges that they encounter through life. I guess what I’m trying to say is not everyone is born to be a leader but it’s important to know who you are as an individual. Often times people conform to society norms or their surroundings and forget who they are as individuals.

I strongly believe it’s important to teach the value of individuality from a young age in order to build confidence, promote positive self-esteem, and creative thinking. Thus, let’s stop following what everyone else is doing and tap in to who we are as individuals.

Sincerely,

ALLERGIC TO….boring people

  1. Although I agree the pursuit of individuality is important, I disagree that so many people are trend hopping and flat. I don’t have anything to back it up (so you might be right), call it my inner optimist seeking for a better answer. Either way, I love this post and I look forward to reading more from you.
